Pieter Van Saun

Pieter Van Saun serves as Chief Operating Officer at 3Chopt Investment Partners. In this role, he oversees all day-to-day operations, spearheads initiatives to improve platform efficiency and technology infrastructure, and plays a key role in supporting the firm’s strategic priorities.

Pieter brings more than 25 years of experience in asset management, investment operations, and performance measurement. He joined 3Chopt after a 24-year career at Thompson, Siegel & Walmsley LLC (TSW), advancing through key positions including equity research analyst, associate portfolio manager, order implementation manager, and ultimately Chief Operating Officer. Passionate about operational excellence, Pieter excels at building efficient systems, streamlining reporting and trading workflows, and strengthening compliance processes. Earlier in his career, he served as a Registered Representative with H&R Block Financial Advisors.

Active in the community, Pieter has contributed extensively to the local council of Scouting America. When he is not busy training for the Richmond Marathon, he enjoys any opportunity to be outdoors.

Pieter earned a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Richmond and an MBA from Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of Business. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA®) charterholder, holds the Certificate in Investment Performance Measurement (CIPM®) designation, and is registered as an Investment Adviser Representative.
